Husaberg EWC Round 6 Report
Husaberg was hot at Round 6 of the '10 Enduro World Championship, held in Serres, Greece, after resuming from its Summer break. Literally hot. As in nearing-113-degrees-hot. Husaberg team riders reported the heat and dust made it a very long two days.
Joakim Ljunggren, who admits he never does well in Greece, finished opening day in tenth place, pulling it up to fourth place on Day Two. Husaberg team rider Valtteri Salonen was slowed by a crash and water in his bike's air box.
'09 Enduro Junior World Champ Oriol Mena also had water in the air box, causing his bike to shut down two times, losing 3 1/2 minutes total. Although disappointed with the problems, Mena was excited with his first year out of the Junior class.
Junior class rider Benoit Fortunato narrowly missed out on a podium result, but was thrilled to be riding again, his health problems behind. Fortunato has not been able to train for the past eight months. Fortunato earned eighth on Day One and fourth on Day Two.
The seventh round of the ’10 Enduro World Championship takes place this coming weekend in Turkey.
