Nathan Woods Finishes 9th at WORCS Round 3, Showing His True Colors: Blue and Yellow

OK so we're a little biased towards Husaberg's blue and yellow, but Woods loves it, too, rides a 'Berg (FC450) and is a Factory Rider with Husaberg.  We're glad to have him on the team.   Two-time WORCS Championship winner, Nathan Woods is looking to reclaim the title for 2010 and is inching his way to the top, coming in ninth at Crazy Horse, Round 3.   Woods had a crash near the halfway mark of the race and got his Husaberg tangled up in thick bushes, which didn't seem to bother the bike at all, but cost Woods some precious time.

“I felt really strong today and feel like I could have finished within the top five had things gone my way. Unfortunately, my crash before the pit stop set me back but it was good to know that I am finally back up to speed and in contention for some top five finishes,” remarked Woods.  (courtesy Husaberg)

Woods and his team arrived at Havasu Thursday night and spent some time Friday practicing and working on the bike settings. The Havasu track is notoriously rough and the winds were kicking up on Saturday.  Woods rode a little on Saturday with his mechanic continually setting the bike and then he qualified at 8th with a time of 6:19.  "I'm OK with that," says Woods, "I'm not a sprinter, I'm more of a marathon guy."     The Husaberg and KTM Teams had a nice dinner Saturday night and got some rest for Sunday's race.

Sunday's start time changed to 1:00 with no gate, a dead engine start.   Woods came out of the first corner in third, dropped back to fifth for a comfortable pace preparing to swap the shock in the pit and then boom, found himself in the bushes.  Once he got back into the race, Woods was 13th and pushing hard to come in where he did -- 9th .   So much for not being a sprinter.  Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

At day's end, Woods conclusion:  "It was a long, tough day at Lake Havasu.  I'm definitely not happy with my finish, but I am happy we are making progress with the Berg."
