Sandlapper Enduro SE&TRA, AMA February 28, 2010 Salley SC
Blue sky and Sunshine. Nothin' but blue sky and sunshine..... and the roar of 300 motorcycles, it was a perfect day at the Sandlapper Enduro, Salley, SC February 28, 2010, a SE&TRA AMA Rekluse event. Around 300 riders, 2 females and 4-5 of these riders were on Husabergs. The entries were a little low this year, primarily due to the economy.
First, the bad news. I don't have any standings for you. I left before finals were posted, figuring they'd be posted online by now. A huge miscalculation on my part.
The energetic Rusty Dennis and the 32-member Columbia Enduro ran this race at the Hollow Creek Fire Dept. to benefit the Ronald McDonald foundation and the HC Fire Dept. This was their 35th year at Hollow Creek, between Wagener and Salley, SC. The race consisted of 60 trail miles spread out over 30 generous landowners, including Glenn Poole, who contributes in many ways to make this race possible.

The 300 entrants came from almost every state on the continental US and these guys here were down from Canada, en route, of course, to Daytona for the Alligator Enduro on Thursday (March 4).
Jean LeCuyer in red and J.F. in blue. (JF's name is extremely French and we couldn't possibly hear or spell it, but he's OK with that) I'm not sure which one rode the Husaberg, but this was their first time to ride it and they were a little anxious, hoping they could get along just fine. Jean had visions of Daytona in his head and was using this race as a warm-up.

These guys here were from Delaware where, if you watch this video, it appears they are accustomed to a wetter race, as opposed to our sand and tall pines. Unlike most entrants, these guys are not headed to Daytona, they are part of the East Coast Enduro and their season is about to begin, so it's back up North they go.

A little Race Shop Representing. We love you, man.

This was the beginning of the race, all off-road in pine forests with the average speed being 24 mph.
The Columbia Enduro and Hollow Creek Fire Dept. want to shout out a big thank you to the Columbia chapter of the Christian Motorcycle Association for all their help with the race, specifically by doing all the road crossings and keeping our riders safe.
Be sure to check out our video on YouTube.
I'm going to throw a few more photos on the bottom of this, enjoy. Catch us on twitter if you recognize the riders and can share their names.
